113 Smart Cards, Identity, Privacy, and You

Session 113
Track(s): Information Assets/Information Technology, Physical Security
When: Wednesday, September 23, 2009, 11:00 am - 12:00 noon
This session provides a comprehensive focus on private and public sector use of identity management and smart card technologies, including compliance with U.S. government standards. Smart card technologies are one tool in establishing an interoperable framework to facilitate intra-organizational convergence. NIST SP 800-116 sets a clear goal to improve smart card use in a physical access control system. How are smart cards used together with various biometric technologies in private corporations? Can identity management be achieved as a hosted (software as a service) solution? Finally we’ll go through the smart card/biometric data flow—from card to server.
